Please read the whole description below as it contains important information.
The Blue Oyster mushroom has a meat-like taste and tender texture when cooked. Their stems are slightly chewy yet succulent. They act as a great meat alternative for vegetarians and vegans. They have a distinct blue-grey hue to them.
We made these growing kits with the consumer in mind so it is very simple to grow mushrooms at home. The kits have been designed to work in an indoor environment – placing them in the living/dining room works great. Don't place in direct sunlight. For best harvests, mist the kit 5-6 times with a misting bottle every couple of hours. Too little water can cause the mushrooms to dehydrate, however, too much water is not good either. Information for each species is specified on the included instruction sheet.
Our mushroom kits can yield anywhere from 800g to 1.2kg of mushrooms over 3 harvests, making the perfect gift for mushroom lovers with a quick harvest time of around 2 weeks for the first harvest. In order to encourage further harvests, you must continue looking after the kit by misting with water like previously done. If this is done successfully, you should expect further harvests to be around 2-3 weeks apart, however, this may take longer if humidity in the substrate is not preserved. First harvest is guaranteed if the included instructions are followed.
The option to include a free water spray bottle is available at your discretion. We recommend using filtered, store-bought or rain water rather than tap water as it contains traces of chlorine and other chemicals.
We aim to have all our growing kits ready to dispatch whenever there is an order, but because it is a growing mycelium sometimes dispatch may take longer. We will get in touch if this is the case.
Note: The growing kit has live mycelium growing so you should cut the growing kit as soon as possible. Kits must be opened within 5 days from the day of dispatch, otherwise, we cannot guarantee a result.
